Colors History

Recently generated color palettes

Every colour you settle on and every gradient you build is kept here automatically, so you can pick up an idea you had yesterday without having written it down. Nothing on this page has been sent anywhere — it is read straight out of your own browser.

How this page works

Everything here is local

Colours and gradients are written to your browser's local storage as you work. They are never sent to a server, so there is no account to sign into and nothing for us to lose. The flip side is that the list is tied to this browser on this device: open the site in a private window, on your phone, or in a different browser, and you will start from an empty page.

What gets saved, and when

A colour is recorded shortly after you stop adjusting it, so dragging across the picker does not fill the list with every shade you passed through. Gradients are saved the same way while the gradient tab is open. The most recent sixty of each are kept; older entries drop off the end.

Getting a colour back out

Click any swatch to open its full colour page, with every format, its tint and shade ladders and its contrast ratios. The copy button next to each entry puts the value straight on your clipboard, and gradients copy as a complete CSS declaration ready to paste.

Using it as a working palette

The most practical use is as scratch space during a design pass. Work through a set of candidate colours in the picker, ignore the ones that do not survive, then come back here and compare what is left side by side — seeing them as a row of swatches tends to make the odd one out obvious in a way that judging them one at a time does not.

Clearing it

Remove single entries with the bin icon that appears when you hover, or clear everything at once with the button at the top. Clearing your browser's site data does the same thing. Because nothing is stored on our side, there is no separate deletion request to make and no copy left behind.
