Terms of Service
Last updated:
These terms govern your use of upgrab.online and everything on it — the colour tools, the colour pages and the articles. Using the site means you accept them. If you do not, please stop using the site.
1. What this site is
Upgrab is a set of free browser-based colour tools: a colour picker, a gradient builder, an image eyedropper, per-colour reference pages and a written column about colour. There is no account, no subscription and no paid tier.
2. Colour values are free to use
A colour value is a fact, not a creative work. Nothing stops you using any HEX, RGB, HSL, CMYK, LAB or LCH value you read here, in any project, commercial or otherwise, with no attribution.
The same goes for the CSS this site generates for you: gradients, palettes and colour declarations produced by the tools are yours to use freely.
3. What we do own
The site itself — its design, code, generated artwork, article text and the Upgrab name — belongs to the operator or is licensed to us. Please do not republish the articles or redeploy the site as your own product.
4. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- Attempt to disrupt the site or the infrastructure it runs on.
- Place unreasonable automated load on the service.
- Republish the site as though it were your own product.
- Use the site in a way that breaks any law that applies to you.
5. Accuracy of colour values
Conversions use standard formulas: the sRGB transfer function, D65 white point for XYZ, and the CIE definitions for LAB and LCH. They are accurate for screen work.
They are not a substitute for a calibrated workflow. What you see depends on your display, its profile and its calibration. For print, or for any colour-critical output, confirm against the actual medium and a measured reference — do not rely on a number from a web page.
6. Not professional advice
The articles explain colour, contrast and CSS as clearly as we can, but they are general information and not professional advice. In particular, nothing here is legal advice about accessibility obligations.
Contrast ratios shown on this site are the WCAG 2 calculation applied to two colour values. Meeting a ratio is one part of accessibility, not proof that a page, product or organisation complies with WCAG, the EAA, the ADA, Section 508 or any other law. If compliance matters to you, get it assessed properly.
7. Advertising
The site carries advertising served by Google AdSense and possibly other networks. We do not choose, endorse or vouch for individual ads or the products in them, and any dealing you have with an advertiser is between you and them. See the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for how advertising cookies are handled and how to opt out.
8. No warranty
The site is provided as it is and as available, without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that every value or statement on it is correct.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site — including work produced using values taken from it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10. Changes and availability
We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time, and features may be added or removed without notice. When these terms change, the date at the top of this page changes with them.
11. Governing law
Where a dispute arises, it will be handled under the law of the place in which the operator of Upgrab is established. Nothing here removes any right you have to bring a claim in the courts of your own country where mandatory consumer law gives you that right.
